"Yeah you're working Building a mystery" (Sarah McLachlan) When we walked into Bravo on Saturday night, the place was jammed. Pretty much every table and every chair was occupied. But we never fretted at all, because we kept on walking inside, followed the staircase to the second floor and walked into our home for the next few hours that saw us enjoy a nice dinner and a very cool murder mystery show. Bravo is home to The Murder on Us Dinner theater, and we sure had a blast in their company. As we hit the top of the stairs, and walked into our private dining room, we were greeted by the perplexing sight of a coffin ! We started off with a cocktail hour, and about half way through our drinks, we heard the sound of a wailing banshee. The mourners had arrived ! We met four members of the O'Sullivan clan, and Mary Margaret who were all on hand for our play -Murder at the Irish Wake. They mingled with us in character for a half hour before we were seated, and that was a lot of fun. Scenes of the play were interwoven through the various courses of dinner - beef barley soup, salad, pre-selected entrees of Petit Top Sirloin, Lemmon Pepper Salmon, Frenched Chicken Breast, or Rigatoni with Pink Vodka Sauce (all with mashed potatoes and a medley of vegetables), a terrific loaf of fresh French bread, and a slice of chocolate cake. The play involved the death of one of the mourners, and we had to figure out who the murderer was, how the dastardly deed was accomplished, and what the motive was. It wasn't fine dining, and it wasn't fine art, but we sure had a very fun time!
Came here for restaurant week with my roommate and we got three courses each for 35$. For the price the entree made it worth it considering we got steak frites and salmon but the desert was a bit too sweet for our liking. I heard that the regular menu and brunch our better so I'll be back to try that. Update: came here again for brunch and got a croque monsieur for takeout and it was much better!
I'm not one to question the opinions of others, but my experience here was 5 Stars, EASY - no doubt in my mind and not a single thing that ever made me think "hmm, well if ... ". I'm sorry that other people have had negative experiences here, but I honestly have no idea how that could have happened, considering how incredible my experience here was. During restaurant week, my boyfriend and I stopped here first for our romantic weekend and it was EVERYTHING we could have ever asked for ... and more! For starters, the Bravo salad was quite possibly the best restaurant salad I've ever had. The presentation was flawless, the roasted red peppers were perfectly cooked & seasoned, the greens were crisp, the tomatoes plump, the dressing flavorful & evenly spread and the whole thing was topped off with a yummy slice of fried cheese. My boyfriend got the Caesar, which looked equally as delicious. My man got a pomegranate cocktail, which I eagerly stole a sip from, and I ordered the "Cool Cucumber" cocktail which was probably the best cucumber based cocktail I've ever had. Our dinner was - perfect; phenomenal. I ordered the seared salmon, which was cooked to perfection and perfectly flavored with a sweet ginger glaze, which doubled as a dipping sauce for the zucchini and (summer squash?) mixed medley. I never really eat rice pilaf, and this was no exception, but I did have a few bites and it was exceptional ... I just don't like rice pilaf, (lol). My boyfriend ordered to steak & fries, which he stated was also delicious, and I definitely pinched a couple of French fries from his basket. Finally, we had delicious apple crisp ... I mean this is hard for anyone to screw up, lol, so one's expectation is that apple crisp just tastes like what you'd expect, and this apple crisp was no exception. The apples were plump & juicy but not over cooked; the crust & topping was delicious in flavor, texture & consistency and the whole thing was topped with vanilla ice cream - and a generous portion of it I might add! I finished off our dessert with an Espresso Martini - hold the Bailey's and WOW - I'm a big time Espresso Martini girl and this was Finally, our server was attentive, SUPER pleasant and just beaming with personality; so was the host! Also, the wait times were totally reasonable, and the restaurant itself is extremely LGBTQIA friendly! I cannot recommend this place enough - you HAVE to try it. Thanks, Bravo
Went to dinner Saturday night at Bravo. Major part of this decision: valet in the cold! So thanks Bravo for saving us in the cold! When we walked in at 5:30 there were only a few people at the bar. We sat down and our waitress was very attentive and nice. My daughter ordered plain pasta with a side of sauce. She received a HUGE bowl of pasta and for a 6 year old who is not fond of sauce, she deemed the saucy 'good.' I ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was adorned with onion strings. It was delicious! And the serving was very large- I could not finish the plate! My friend ordered a steak as well, and he told me to put in my Yelp review that it's hard to do asparagus right and they nailed it! The atmosphere is very clean and inviting. Great for a friends get together or a romantic date!
This is a great location for a special meal with loved ones, group dinner with friends in a relaxed atmosphere and a place to enjoy french inspired food. I enjoy the food, it is typically pretty solid, nothing "award-winning" but it's all enjoyable. I could simply spend time chatting with friends, drinking great local draft beer and eat "fresh from the oven" bread. If I do order, I typically defer to: Sweet Frites, Steak Frites (with Sweet Frites), Burgers. There is valet parking at night and there is a parking garage across and down the street. Easy either way.
Bravo Brasserie was the setting of a wonderful date night during Restaurant WeekS 2010. This French inspired American bistro indeed provides an dimly lit, intimate atmosphere (sometimes. . . cont reading). The dark, rich woods give off more of a pub feel than one of a bistro, but a comfortable one at that. Like I said, I came here during Restaurant Week and ordered off its menu for the occasion. I enjoyed a Caesar Salad, Top Sirloin Steak dish served with Mashed Potatoes, Zucchini, and Summer Squash. On top of that, we shared a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. . . all for $30! Not a bad deal. The salad was pretty standard (my first Caesar Salad mind you. . . if you can believe that :-P) while the steak was juicy and cooked to order. The whole dish was very flavorful and extremely enjoyable. My only complaint is how closely they sat another party partway into the meal. There were very few people dining and plenty of seating which is why I was surprised they sat a group of 6 directly next to us. When I say directly next to. . . I mean, the people on my side of the table had to turn sideways and wedge themselves between my table and theirs to get to their seats. Our quiet, intimate atmosphere was suddenly disrupted for the remainder of the meal. I recommend this restaurant for a date night (as long as they strategically place its customers in the future). NOTE: They have Monday Night Dinner Special for 2 for $31.95. You get a salad starter, choice of entree, and a bottle of wine to share. It is definitely worth it and something I have enjoyed on many occasions. Highly recommended!
